How It Works
Tattoo removal uses advanced laser technology to break down the ink particles in your skin, allowing your body’s natural processes to gradually remove them. Here's how it works:
Laser Targeting: The laser emits short pulses of intense light that penetrate the skin and target the ink particles. Different wavelengths of light are used to treat various ink colors.
Ink Fragmentation: The laser energy breaks the ink particles into smaller fragments, which are then absorbed and eliminated by your body's immune system over time.
Multiple Sessions: Tattoo removal usually requires multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart, depending on the size, color, and depth of the tattoo. With each session, the tattoo becomes progressively lighter.
Pre Treatment
Consultation: Schedule a consultation to assess your tattoo and determine the appropriate treatment plan based on the size, color, and location of the tattoo.
Avoid Sun Exposure: Refrain from sunbathing or using tanning beds for at least two weeks before your appointment. Sunburned or tanned skin can increase the risk of side effects.
No Creams or Lotions: Avoid applying creams, lotions, or makeup on the tattoo area on the day of your treatment to ensure the best laser penetration.
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment to keep your skin hydrated and support the healing process.
Avoid Blood Thinners: Refrain from taking blood-thinning medications and supplements, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E, for at least a week before your appointment to reduce the risk of bruising.
Post Treatment
Sun Protection: Protect the treated area from sun exposure by applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily and covering the area if possible. Avoid direct sun exposure for at least two weeks post-treatment.
Gentle Care: Keep the treated area clean and dry. Use a gentle cleanser and avoid scrubbing. Apply any prescribed ointments to promote healing and prevent infection.
Avoid Heat and Friction: Refrain from hot showers, saunas, and intense physical activities that may cause excessive sweating or friction on the treated area for 24-48 hours post-treatment.
No Picking or Scratching: Allow any scabs or blisters to heal naturally. Avoid picking or scratching the treated area to prevent scarring or infection.
Stay Hydrated: Continue to drink plenty of water to support the body’s natural healing and ink elimination processes.
Expect Fading: The tattoo will gradually fade over several weeks as the body processes the fragmented ink particles. Multiple sessions will be needed for complete removal.
Follow-Up Treatments: Schedule follow-up sessions as recommended by your provider to achieve the best results. Adhere to the suggested treatment intervals for optimal fading.
