How It Works
Dermal fillers are injectable treatments that restore volume, smooth wrinkles, and enhance facial contours. Here's how they work:
Hyaluronic Acid or Other Fillers: Most dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the skin that attracts and retains moisture, helping to plump and hydrate the skin. Other types of fillers may use different materials tailored to specific needs.
Volume Restoration: When injected beneath the skin, fillers add volume to areas that have lost fullness due to aging, such as the cheeks, lips, and under-eye area. They can also smooth out deep lines and wrinkles.
Immediate Results: The results are typically visible immediately after treatment, with the full effect developing over the next few days as the filler settles and integrates with the skin.
Dermal fillers provide a non-surgical option for rejuvenating the face, creating a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
Pre Treatment
Consultation: Schedule a consultation to discuss your aesthetic goals, assess your skin, and choose the right type of filler for your needs.
Avoid Blood Thinners: Refrain from taking blood-thinning medications and supplements, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E, for at least a week before your appointment to reduce the risk of bruising.
Limit Alcohol: Avoid alcohol consumption for 24-48 hours before your treatment, as it can increase the risk of bruising and swelling.
No Dental Work: Avoid scheduling any dental work for two weeks before and after your dermal filler appointment, as this can increase the risk of infection.
Clean Skin: Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin on the day of your treatment to ensure the area is sterile and ready for injection.
Post Treatment
Ice the Area: Apply a cold compress to the treated area to minimize swelling and bruising. Do this gently for 10-15 minutes at a time during the first 24 hours.
Avoid Heat and Exercise: Refrain from intense exercise, saunas, hot showers, and sun exposure for 24-48 hours post-treatment to reduce the risk of swelling and irritation.
No Touching or Pressure: Avoid touching, massaging, or applying pressure to the treated areas for at least 48 hours to allow the filler to settle properly.
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to help maintain the results of the hyaluronic acid fillers and promote overall skin health.
Avoid Alcohol and Blood Thinners: Continue to avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications for 24-48 hours after treatment to minimize bruising.
Follow-Up: Schedule a follow-up appointment if necessary to assess the results and determine if any adjustments are needed.
